So start the fairytales that for hundreds of years have entertained and captured the imaginations of children all around the world.
This story follows the traditional script: there are the goodies and the baddies, there is a magical place and the heroes, and of course, there is the happy ending.
A Beautiful Surprise is the title for the L.A. Home story, of the personal story of the Andreoletti family who follow and fulfill a dream: a house all for themselves, adapted for Leonardo, but also an inclusive spot, a B&B, the first and only in Italy with no architectural barriers.
As the traditional narrative of the fairytale calls for, in addition to the major characters there are also the minor ones: though on second thought, in this case they are not minor at all since they are known to everyone. We are talking about the 7 dwarfs.
They all lived in the garden of the old nursery school Nalini Caccinelli, which is where our story takes place. L.A Home, a wonderful surprise, took more than two years of work to be completed, during which time our friendly little dwarves had to move elsewhere.
We don’t know where they spent this time, but we are just happy they are back home, their home, a beautiful and welcoming home: L.A. HOME, the home of L.eonardo A.ndreoletti , the true inspiration for this extraordinary project.
Leonardo is the second son of the Andreoletti family, born with an unfortunate degenerative neuromuscular disease called SMA, a rare disease with no known cure currently available. He has never walked, and has used a wheelchair to move around since the age of one. This unexpected diagnosis has forced an important change of life on the Andreoletti family. To crush SMA, to take a decisive blow and knock it out, they have had to get organised: to learn to accept and manage daily life with such a difficult pathology, with a thousand nuances, with its aids and its complications.
After becoming aware of SMA, a need of a different and contrasting nature arose: the desire for redemption, starting from the idea that life is a mirror and if you smile at it, it smiles back.
The first true form of rebirth after the diagnosis came with L.A. HOME: a completely accessible house with no architectural barriers.
In 2016 Moniga’s council decided to sell and put to auction the ex nursery school, and the Andreoletti family won it.
In this large house at Via Dante 43, many of Moniga’s children had passed their early childhood in the loving care of Sister Petra, Sister Giorgina, Sister Ines and the mother superior Sister Guidalberta. In 2011 an earthquake caused its immediate closure. The nursery school would remain closed for 4 years, until 2016, when the Andreoletti family acquired the property and started renovation works. 2 seemingly endless yet unforgettable years passed, with the infinite decisions, iron, cement screed, concrete, fire protection, garage, railings, wallpaper, breakfasts, welcome kits, software, linen, communication strategies, public greens, deep greens, parking, the logo…no detail must escape.
In September 2018 LA Home was inaugurated: and so Moniga’s old nursery school was given new life.
Since LA HOME opened its doors, not only does Leonardo have a new house with adequate space and above all no areas that exclude him, but LA HOME has also become a splendid, inclusive B&B, with it being accessible to everyone due to its removal of architectural barriers, and its large, light, equipped, modern and comfortable spaces.
The creators of LA HOME, starting with Leonardo who is the inspiration, shared a vision which we can sum up like this:
[…] A true house is defined by the life inside it, by the joy it emits, by the peace that makes it a place where you can really rest, by the kindness that gives anyone who stays the feeling of being looked after as if at home.
LA HOME: A Beautiful Surprise…the house for which the Andreoletti family, the seven dwarfs and all the town of Moniga are proud of.
The house with a soul.
